Greenwich Children's Services Directory

main content

About the directory

Under the Every Child Matters: Change for Children framework, every local authority must have an online and easy-to-use Children’s Services Directory (CSD).

The directory should provide up-to-date information on local services, including:

  • who can take part
  • where the service is provided
  • how to get a referral for the service.

Who is it for?

It is intended to be useful for parents and carers, children and young people as well as professional and practitioners working with them.

Who is involved?

Since March 2006, the Greenwich CSD has been hosted on the Greenwich Council website on behalf of Greenwich Children’s Trust.

The project is a joint effort between the Greenwich Children’s Trust and the Children's Information Service. Through this project we aim to bring together information about local children’s services.

The CSD will take into account the development of other national service directories and support important developments such as the Common Assessment Framework.

Our aims

We expect children, young people and their families and carers to benefit from CSD as a result of:

  • better informed professionals who would be able to make better and quicker referrals
  • increased communication and cooperation in the children’s sector, which would reduce duplication of effort
  • parents and carers being able to make informed choices that match their needs, from the range of services and activities
  • giving children more control over their lives
  • reduced time and effort of users looking for information
  • increased use of services and activities.
